Las Vegas rape case
A Saudi air force sergeant in the United States was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a child on charges he raped a 13-year-old boy at the Las Vegas hotel and a bail of just over $ 1.2 million has been identified, authorities said.
Mazen al-Otaibi is charged with raping the boy on New Year’s Eve at the Hotel in Las Vegas Strip where he and Otaibi were staying, according to a criminal complaint.
Police said Al-Otaibi, 23, was visiting Las Vegas while his temporary headquarters were based at Lakeland Air Force Base in Texas.
Al-Otaibi’s lawyer said his client was in Las Vegas with a group of Saudi military friends before the imminent conclusion of his training in the United States and that he had spent hours before drinking alcohol.
“He could have been two weeks away,” lawyer Don Cheeres told Reuters. Las Vegas came to celebrate. It was New Year’s Eve. The lawyer complained that al-Otaibi was drunk when police interrogated him and he did not admit that he may have fucked the boy only because of the hostile interrogation technique.
He added: There is no evidence that my client pulled the boy into the hotel room. He said the boy had contacted the Saudi group looking to sell marijuana. “They tried to get rid of him.
A court official said the bail set for the release of Al-Otaibi was more than $ 1.2 million on Friday, including charges of child sexual abuse and coercion.
Las Vegas said the judge ordered Otaibi to hand over his passport and stay in the United States if he paid the bail. His lawyer said he could face life imprisonment if convicted.
